Coefficient of Friction (µ) - It is defined as the ratio of the force of limiting friction (f_s) to the normal reaction (R) between them. i.e. µ = f_s/R So, value of µ depends on: (a) Nature of the surface in contact, i.e. dry or wet, rough or smooth, (b) material of the surface in contact.
