Limitations of Arrhenius Theory - There are limitations of Arrhenius theory: (i) Limited to aqueous solution only. (ii) It cannot be applied to those compounds which does not contain free H+ and OH- ions. (iii) This theory fails to explain the properties of acids and bases in any solvents (like benzene or acetone) or gases, other than water.
