The Properties of Aluminium Chloride - (i) The colour of aluminium chloride is white, but often it is contaminated with iron chloride, which makes it yellow. (ii) Aluminium chloride has a very low melting and boiling point. It sublimes at a temperature of 180°C. (iii) Aluminium chloride (AlCl3) in a molten state is a poor conductor of electricity. (iv) Aqueous solution of AlCl3 is acidic due to hydrolysis of Al3+ ions.
