Magnetic Properties of Lanthanides…
All trivalent lanthanide ions are paramagnetic due to unpaired electrons. The 4f electrons are responsible for the strong magnetism exhibited by the metals. Similarly actinoids are paramagnetic due to the presence of unpaired 5f electron.
