Classification of Alcohols is based upon the number of hydroxyl groups linked to an alkyl group. The classification of alcohols is shown below:
(i) Monohydric alcohols
(ii) Dihydric alcohols
(iii) Trihydric alcohols
(iv) Polyhydric alcohols.
