(i) Be is harder than other members of its group but lighter than Mg.
(ii) Be forms covalent compounds while other members form ionic compounds.
(iii) Salt of Be and Mg do not impact colour to the flame.
(iv) BeO is amphoteric whereas MgO and oxides of other group members are weakly basic.
(v) Sulphate of Be, i.e. BeSo4 is water-soluble.
(vi) Unlike other alkaline earth metals, Be does not form peroxide.
