Diagonal Relationship of Beryllium with Aluminium…
Diagonal Relationship of Beryllium with Aluminium –
(i) Both forms covalent compounds having low melting point are soluble in organic solvent.
(ii) Both beryllium and aluminium have a tendency to create covalent compounds, which is one of the diagonal relationships between them.
(iii) Friedel crafts catalysts are beryllium chloride and aluminium chloride. Because they are both Lewis acids.
(iv) Both form polymeric covalent hydrides.
(v) Like Al, Be does not get readily attacked by acids because of the formation of protective oxide film.
