Electrophilic Substitution Reaction in Schotten Baumann Reaction in Alkanamines:
(i) In order to obtain mono-halo product, —NH2 group is protected with acylation.
(ii) Under very strong acidic condition, aniline is converted into anilinium ion. Anilinium ion being electron deficient deactivates o/p-positions resulting in the formation of only meta-derivative.
