Melting and Boiling Points in Alkenes…
Alkenes have lower melting and boiling points than alkanes of similar molecular weight. This is because the carbon-carbon double bond in alkenes is weaker than the carbon-carbon single bond in alkanes, and therefore requires less energy to overcome.
