Physical Properties of Amines…
General physical properties of amines are as follow:
(i) Lower aliphatic amines are gases while lower aromatic amines are liquids.
(ii) Boiling point of amines is higher than that of hydrocarbons of comparable molecular masses due to the presence of intermolecular H-bonding .However, H-bonding is tertiary amines.
(iii) Aliphatic amines are miscible with water due to the intermolecular H-bonding with H2 molecules.
