Physical Properties of Ethers:
(i) Ethers are soluble in water due to the formation of H-bonding with water molecules.
(ii) Dimethyl and ethyl methyl ethers are gases at ordinary temperature. Other lower members are colourless, pleasant smell, volatile liquids.
(iii) Ethers have lower boiling points in comparison to corresponding alcohols due to the presence of weak dipole-dipole forces among intermolecular ethers.
