Susceptibility (χ) is the ratio M/H for a magnetic substance where H is the applied magnetic intensity and M the magnetization produced in the substance. χ < 0 for diamagnetic substance and χ > 0 for paramagnetic and ferromagnetic materials. Its value is large ferromagnetic materials.
