The Properties of Baking Soda –
(i) If heated, it decomposes to Na2Co3 and Co2.
(ii) Sodium bicarbonate is a white, crystalline powder that sometimes forms lumps.
(iii) Sodium hydrogen carbonate is an odorless, white crystalline solid with a density of 2.2 g/mL.
(iv) The metal salt which forms basic carbonate with sodium carbonate, gives normal carbonate with sodium bicarbonate.
