The Properties of Diagonal Relationship of Lithium with Magnesium –
(i) Both Li and Mg are harder than other members of their respective groups.
(ii) The boiling point and melting point of both lithium and magnesium are comparatively high.
(iii) Sulphates of Li and Mg does not form alum.
(iv) Both of them form monoxide on heating in oxygen.
(v) Unlike elements of group first and group second lithium and magnesium, forms nitride on reacting with nitrogen.
