For quadratic equation such as ax2+bx+c=0, the quantity b2-4ac is called the discriminant. 
If b2-4ac>0,the equation as real roots. 
If b2-4ac=0,the equation has coincidental real roots. 
If b2-4ac<0,the equation has complex roots.
