Question
What is Enthalpy Change of Formation?
Answer
Enthalpy changes of formation are often used to calculate the enthalpy change of a chemical reaction using Hess's law. This law states that the overall enthalpy change of a reaction is the sum of the enthalpy changes of formation of the products minus the sum of the enthalpy changes of formation of the reactants.
