Question
What is Valency?
Answer
Valency is generally equal to either the number of valency electrons or eight minus the member of valency electrons, e.g., the sodium atom contains one valence electrons (3S′) and its valency is one whereas the valency of oxygen is generally 2, i.e., 8 - 6 = 2.
