There are five codes of nomenclature which help to avoid errors, duplication and ambiguity in scientific names. Codes of biological nomenclature are as follows: (i) ICBN - International Code of Botanical Nomenclature (ii) ICZN - International Code of Zoological Nomenclature (iii) ICVN - International Code of Viral Nomenclature (iv) ICBN - International Code of Bacteriological Nomenclature (v) ICNCP - International Code of Nomenclature for Cultivated Plants.
