The basic features of fungi unicellular includes: (i) Fungi lacks chlorophyll, hence they are heterotrophic. (ii) They cannot ingest solid food, but absorb it after digestion (extracellular digestion). (iii) On the basis of food source, they may be saprophyte or parasites. (iv) Cell wall in fungi is made up of chitin or fungus cellulose along with other polysaccharides, proteins lipids and a number of other substances. Reserved food material is glycogen or oil.
