C. V. Raman was an eminent Indian scientist F.R.S. National Professor of physics and founder Director of Raman Research Institute, Bangalore. He was awarded Nobel Prize of his discovery of 'Raman Effect' (1930). His work on study of crystal structure is of unique importance. He died on November 20, 1970.
