The Wolff-Kishner reduction is a chemical reaction used to convert carbonyl compounds, particularly aldehydes and ketones, into their corresponding alkanes.
The reaction involves the use of hydrazine (N2H4) and a strong base, typically potassium hydroxide (KOH) or sodium hydroxide (NaOH), in a two-step process.
