Zener Effect …
Zener Effect is:
If the p and n regions in a diode are heavily doped, the breakdown voltage can be reduced. Heavy doping reduces the width of the depletion region and the electric field at the barrier will be very high even for low voltage. The field is so strong that the electrons in the covalent bond can break away from the bonds. This effect is known as Zener Effect.
